Engineering and Public Works provides the infrastructure essential to the safety, health and quality of life for the citizens, businesses, and visitors of West Palm Beach.
The Engineering division manages repair and replacement projects for existing water, waste water, storm drainage, buildings and building systems, streets, sidewalks, curbs, parks and landscaping.
The Traffic division keeps our streets in optimal condition to allow traffic to flow smoothly. The traffic division is involved in the planning, design and operations of our roadways.
The Parks Maintenance division maintains and improves the parks system to provide a clean, safe and healthy environment for all to enjoy. The division maintains 54 parks and open grass spaces within the city.
The Sanitation division ensures that garbage from all residential and commercial properties is picked up in a timely and efficient manner. The city collects residential, commercial and yard waste.
The Street Maintenance and Lighting division makes sure our streets are kept in safe condition and they also maintain city-owned light poles. (Not all the street lights in the city are owned by the city. Many of them are owned by FPL.)
Finally, the Engineering and Public Works department works with other city departments to plan and implement future systems required to meet the growth needs of the City.
