Class Instructor

About this Volunteer Opportunity

Provide instruction in an area of expertise including but not limited to art, music, ceramics, dance, photography, computers, fencing, gardening, quilting, yoga, karate, cooking, sports etc. Research, plan, implement, supervise and evaluate the program. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents and Parks and Recreation staff on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • The ability to provide instruction to students on an area of expertise.
  • The ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and needs.
  • Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • The ability to serve as a model of professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, Parks and Recreation staff and the community.
  • Adherence to good safety standards.
  • The ability to pass a background check.
