- Approved Resolution No. 211-18, a Project Funding Interlocal Agreement with the City of West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) to provide funding to the Downtown Alley Pilot Project and personnel detail from the Public Works Department. The project seeks to activate the City’s alleyways to open up business opportunities, provide a safe, clean environment, introduce new design elements, and put underground utilities in place. The project will commence with the 300 Block alleyway south of Clematis Street in the Fall of 2018 and will be funded by the CRA for one pilot year.
- Approved Resolution No. 232-18, approving a security agreement with the School Board of Palm Beach County to provide on-site security for five elementary schools in the City. The resolution comes amid the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. The designated elementary schools are:
- U.B. Kinsey Elementary School
- Pleasant City Elementary School
- Egret Lake Elementary School
- Roosevelt Elementary School
- Grassy Waters Elementary School
- Approved Resolution No. 192-18, approving the Funding Agreement with the CRA for the Tamarind Avenue Streetscape Project. The project, which has been under design since 2014, primarily seeks to enhance pedestrian connections along Tamarind Avenue.
- Approved Resolution No. 194-18(F) accepting and appropriating funds from Split Rock Charitable Foundation in the amount of $10,000 to continue the Let’s Read programming initiative at the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach.
- Approved Resolution No. 231-18, approving an agreement with Phipps Park Baseball Inc., for the use, maintenance, operation, and management of the Phipps Park Baseball facilities. The agreement stipulates that the City will be responsible for maintaining drinking fountains, replacing facility light bulbs, footing energy charges for ballfield lighting, covering concession stand fees, footing water utility bills, and covering all costs related to the disposal of solid waste.
- Approved Resolution No. 224-18, an interlocal agreement between the City and Palm Beach County for on-water law enforcement for the purpose of manatee protection. As Palm Beach County is one of the 13 key manatee counties identified by the State of Florida, an increased quantity of law enforcement will monitor boat speed zones and reduce further risks to manatees.
- Approved Resolution No. 184-18, approving Art in Public Places artwork for Palm Beach Imports (Braman Motorcars, 2801 Okeechobee Boulevard). The resolution approves the work titled “West Palm Beach Lights” by artist Bill Fitz Gibbons which will be installed on the south facing façade at the 2801 Okeechobee parking garage. The sculpture will be constructed using a computerized LED light system and will include a variety color changing light sequences.
