HEY! HAVE YOU WALKED DOWN QUADRILLE LATELY?
WPB’s AiPP Committee, Daily tous les jours invite public to participate in making of ‘Play Sidewalk’ Installatio
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (May 30, 2018) --- City of West Palm Beach residents and visitors are invited to participate in two interactive public workshops with the award-winning French Canadian design group, Daily tous les jours (dlj). The Montreal based artist collective that brought The Musical Swings to West Palm Beach returns to explore, create, and transform an underutilized public space: Quadrille Boulevard. Daily tlj has been commissioned by the City’s Art in Public Places (AiPP) program to create an interactive, temporary (six months) installation that would invite the public to explore and reconsider the public space along Quadrille Boulevard between Clematis and Fern Street. ‘Play Sidewalk’ is a conceptual title meant to incite the realm of possibilities in transforming a public thoroughfare into a space that is unique to West Palm Beach. Daily tlj will lead the public through dynamic activities, interventions, and meaningful community dialogue to create a bespoke interactive installation and make walking on Quadrille between Fern and Clematis a “playful” experience.
Two local businesses are hosting the workshops: The West Palm Beach Brewery & Wine Vault and Subculture Coffee-- both walking distance to the project site.
Session One: Thursday, June 7 (5 – 7 pm)
West Palm Beach Brewery & Wine Vault - 332 Evernia
Informal open forum to gather insights about the site, its challenges and the opportunities it presents and to hear your stories about your neighborhood and city.
Session Two: Friday, June 8 (9 - 11am)
Subculture Coffee - 509 Clematis Street
Creative session to collect data about the site and stories about the neighborhood. Come ready to draw, map your city and walk along Quadrille!
Play Sidewalk is funded by the City of West Palm Beach Art in Public Places and the John L. and James S. Knight Foundation Fund of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. For further information, please email Sybille Welter at firstname.lastname@example.org.
