Voters Elect Keith James as Mayor of City of West Palm Beach
Runoff Planned for District-3 Commission Race
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA (March 12, 2019) – City of West Palm Beach voters elected Commissioner Keith James as their next Mayor in a municipal election held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Mayor-elect James will succeed outgoing Mayor Jeri Muoio. James won the mayoral race with 50.3% of the vote, according to unofficial results. He will be sworn-in during a ceremony planned for Thursday, April 4, 2019.
 
A runoff election is planned for West Palm Beach Commissioner District 3 candidates Christy Fox and Richard Ryles. The runoff election is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
 
The referendum question on the ballot was rejected by West Palm Beach voters. The ballot question was, “The City Commission appoints only City residents as audit committee at-large members. Shall the Charter of the City of West Palm Beach, Florida, be amended to allow appointment of at-large members who are either City residents or employees or owners of businesses located in the City of West Palm Beach?”
