WPB LIBRARY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES BOARD CHAIR, VICE CHAIR
The West Palm Beach Library Foundation raises funds for the Mandel Public Library to create and expand FREE community programs, enhance services and grow its collections.
 
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (July 11, 2018) – The West Palm Beach Library Foundation announced the recent appointment of two dynamic members to its Board of Directors: Natalie M. Alvarez will serve as board chair and Dianne G. Bernstein will serve as vice-chair.  Both are two-year terms.  
 
Alvarez and Bernstein will provide strategic leadership to the Foundation and work with the Board to plan Library Foundation programs for the 2018-2019 season, including the annual Food for Thought fundraiser in spring 2019. They will also support the Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach vital programs and services.
 
A dedicated community leader, Alvarez, who has served on the Foundation board for six years, also brings over 30 years of financial management and leadership experience to the Library Foundation. Her career in private wealth management and retail banking developed her dedicated work ethic and leadership skills for the organizations she serves.  Alvarez has a passion for volunteerism and has served on the committees of several nonprofits including: Palm Beach Atlantic University, The Children’s Healing Institute and Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, among others.  She was recognized as the 2018 Hispanic Women of Distinction Honoree, and received the 2017 Distinguished Alumna Award from PBA’s MacArthur School of Leadership. Alvarez recently graduated from Leadership Palm Beach County’s Class of 2018.
 
Bernstein, a celebrated painter and former English teacher, recently served as co-chair of the Foundation’s 2017 signature Food for Thought event, and has served on the board for two years. A West Palm Beach resident, she founded and served as the first director of the Temple University School of Business Graduate Placement Program and has served on the board of several nonprofits including the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Free Library System, the Philadelphia Library Foundation, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Curtis Institute of Music.  Bernstein also currently serves as chair of the Southeast Regional AFMDA advisory committee.
