September 22 Event to Generate Opportunity for Region’s Business Community.
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (August 3, 2017)—The City of West Palm Beach will participate in the 11th
Annual Palm Beach Partners Business Matchmaker Conference and Expo on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Cohen Pavilion.
The Palm Beach Partners is a collaboration of city, county, state and non-profit agencies aligned to maximize economic development opportunities for small businesses throughout South Florida. The daylong event will feature a selection of topical workshops and one-on-one matchmaker appointments with key decision makers, and exhibits. The evening will culminate with a networking reception.
This year’s theme, “Charting the Course: Navigating Business Connections,” underscores the hosts’ intent to create a forum whereby small, women-, minority-owned, and disadvantaged business enterprises (SBE, M/WBE, DBE) can generate opportunities at a single gathering.
“This program will offer owners of small businesses the chance to contract with the City,” said City of West Palm Beach Procurement Director Frank Hayden. “We look forward to helping them expand their opportunities by including them into the restructured Procurement programs with the City. Some of these programs include the service-disabled veteran program, shelter market program, and MBE program.”
The Expo serves hundreds of small, minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises by matching them with immediate and long-term business development resources and technical assistance. This year the Expo will offer a series of workshops including one which will introduces businesses to upcoming government contracts. Another workshop will assist participating enterprises with accessing and navigating resources. Informative workshops will also concentrate on PTAC (Procurement and Technical Assistance Centers), finance, marketing, and projects funded by the penny surtax.
“The goal of the 2017 Palm Beach Matchmaker Conference & Expo is to stimulate economic opportunity and job growth for South Florida’s Entrepreneurs,” said Laura Beebe, Deputy Director, Airports Business Affairs, Palm Beach County Department of Airports. “We’ve created an event that benefits the region’s top corporate, government, small businesses and non-profits to do business together.”
City, county, state and non-profit agencies participating in the event include the City of West Palm Beach, the South Florida Water Management District, Palm Beach County Office of Small Business Assistance, Palm Beach International Airport, Palm Tran, School District of Palm Beach County, City of Riviera Beach, TED Center and Paragon Florida, Inc.
