New recycling program with cool new tech starts Monday

Some brand new trucks will be rolling through your neighborhood beginning Monday.

Starting next week, all recycling in the city of West Palm Beach will now be picked up by a company called Waste Pro.  While the company is new, your pick up schedule will stay exactly the same.

Along with the new company and new trucks comes some new technology as well.

Over the next few weeks, the truck drivers will be putting a sticker on your blue bin.  The sticker is an electronic tag that will allow the city to know how much recycling is being picked up by the company.

It's a way to ensure the city can track the company's pick-ups, and increase accountability.  It also will help our Sustainability Department know if some parts of the city are better recyclers than others.

This will help them know where to focus their recycling education efforts in the future.

Again, your pick up days won't change. And you keep the bins you have.

WPB is one of the happiest cities in Florida

This will put a smile on your face!

The website OnlyInYourState.com looked at cities across the state of Florida, and found that West Palm Beach is among the top 10 happiest cities in the state.

The site says it's because "there's always something fun to do, something delicious to eat, or somewhere great to shop."

The site also says West Palm Beach lets people "experience a South Florida lifestyle with lower home prices than the bigger cities to the south."

Yeah! Stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it, Miami and Fort Lauderdale!
