Guests to this week’s West Palm Beach GreenMarket will have an opportunity to tantalize their taste buds with some of our area’s newest cooking talent.  Three young, aspiring chefs from the Palm Beach Gardens High School Culinary Arts Program will put their talents to the test during the Chef Throwdown at the West Palm Beach GreenMarket on Saturday, March 15 at 10:00 am.

Every month at the GreenMarket’s Chef Throwdown, local chefs are challenged to create a unique and tasty signature dish in thirty minutes based on a list of fresh ingredients that can be purchased from West Palm Beach GreenMarket vendors including seafood, cheeses, herbs, pasta and produce.  Then, eleven GreenMarket patrons are pulled from the crowd to sample both dishes and vote on their favorite.  This month’s competition has a fresh new spin with Palm Beach Gardens High School students Akino West, Ross Bailey, and Jonathon Duff being coached by their instructor Chef Tammy Jo Newman and the GreenMarket Chef, John Carlino.  Guests can come watch the exciting competition and taste the culinary creations of these fresh new talents as they cook up fresh ingredients from greenmarket vendors.

Guests can also meet “Blue Betty”, JetBlue’s interactive RV, at this week’s market and register to win two free flights from JetBlue Airways.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket is the area’s original and most popular green market.  Each Saturday vendors offer a variety of farm fresh fruits and vegetables, tropical and native plants, fresh-cut flowers, artisan foods, and much more from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm in Downtown West Palm Beach.  Guests can also sit and enjoy their made-to-order breakfast or lunch at the GreenMarket Café.  The West Palm Beach GreenMarket is dog-friendly and offers free parking in the Banyan Street Garage until 2:00 pm.  The West Palm Beach GreenMarket is produced by the City of West Palm Beach, Mayor’s Office – Division of Community Events and is sponsored by The Palm Beach Post, The Palm Beach Daily News, WIRK 107.9 fm and Sunny 104.3 fm.  For more information about the West Palm Beach GreenMarket, please call 561-822-1515 or visit
