(October 22, 2008 – West Palm Beach, FL) – On Sunday, October 26, Percy Sledge, the soulful voice behind the #1 hit single “When a Man Loves a Woman,” will bring his emotional ballad to the Meyer Amphitheatre.  Guests can catch the legendary Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer at this season’s final Sunday at the Meyer concert as he performs his touching love songs, gritty southern sounds, and energizing soul hymns.  This passionate soul man is sure to bring a taste of the Memphis glory years to downtown West Palm Beach.

Percy Sledge’s first recording was by far his biggest and now his signature song. The yearning ballad “When a Man Loves a Woman” was a number one smash hit that defined the summer of in 1966.  While the song enjoys routine revivals in commercials, on soundtracks and in the talented hands of tribute singers from Bette Midler to Michael Bolton, Percy Sledge is far from a one-hit wonder.  The soulful balladeer had a number of significant chart hits including “Take Time To Know Her,” “Warm And Tender Love,” “Out Of Left Field, “It Tears Me Up,” “I’ll Be Your Everything” and others.  With a successful career that is now in its fifth decade, this moving songster can still elicit the emotional essence in every song to his audience.
