Teens to Simulate Structure Fire Search and Rescue

When:  Thursday, April 2, 2009, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Where:  Fire Station #2, 4301 South Dixie Highway, WPB

(04/01/09)  Teenagers attending “Firestorm,” a week-long firefighting camp, will suit up in full fire gear and crawl through a smoke-filled maze searching for a “victim” as part of a simulated structure fire search and rescue operation.  This very intense and visual simulation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009, and be held at Fire Station #2 at 4301 South Dixie Highway.

Each year, dozens of teens apply to spend their Spring Break at “Firestorm,” the only teen fire camp on the east coast.  Teens get hands-on experience with a vast array of first responder training, learning about teamwork and responsibility in the process.
