When:  Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 12:30 p.m.
Where:  Gaines Park, 1501 N. Australian Avenue, WPB

(04/22/09)  City of West Palm Beach Mayor Lois J. Frankel will join National Football League officials in a tree planting ceremony on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. at Gaines Park, located at 1501 North Australian Avenue.

Mayor Frankel will be helping the N.F.L. continue work on the “Trail of Trees,” an environmental project connecting Tampa to Miami with a “living bridge” of trees.  Tampa and Miami are the host cities for Super Bowls XLIII (Tampa Bay) and XLIV (South Florida).

The NFL has planted more than 20,000 trees in the past five years as part of the NFL Environmental Program.  This series of tree plantings will mark the final environmental effort for Super Bowl XLIII and the first of many environmental events for Super Bowl XLIV.
