Tornado and Flood Watch in Effect for West Palm Beach

The National Weather Service has placed Palm Beach County under a “Tornado Watch” until 9:00pm.  This is in addition to the “Flood Warning” we are under until 7:00pm tonight.  Most of the severe weather should move south of us by this evening but those of you traveling to Broward County today and tonight should pay special attention to the weather.  The airport received seven (7) inches of rain last night and this morning so the ground is pretty well saturated, meaning further rain is going to result in additional flooding potential.  Low lying areas might even see water entering structures.  There is a potential of this area receiving an additional 3-5 inches today and tonight.  From Broward County south they should expect the winds we had yesterday…40-50 mph with higher gusts.

A Tornado Watch means that there is potential for tornadoes to develop but non have been sighted or indicated.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or already occurring over a large area.

Please pay special attention to your personal weather sources including TV-18 which is airing the Tornado Watch information.
