City of West Palm Beach Wins 2010 Athena Award

The City of West Palm Beach is being honored for several major achievements.
The 2010 Athena Award for Business of the Year is being presented to the City Of West Palm Beach.  The City receives this honor in recognition of a strong record of leadership by and equal opportunities for women. Of 87 management positions in the city, 44% are occupied by women.  Many of these professionals dedicate much of their free time to civic organizations and charitable causes.  The city was also recognized for its women-friendly business practices in order to attract, promote and retain female employees. Mayor Lois Frankel believes such practices benefit residents and businesses by fostering fresh ideas and innovative approaches “The City appreciates this honor and will continue to promote a diverse workforce which mirrors the many cultures of our community.”  The Athena is a yearly award presented by the Chamber of the Palm Beaches.
