New Downtown WPB iPhone App!

Right in step with the grand opening of the magnificent waterfront, getting the latest details about events, restaurants, retailers and more in Downtown West Palm Beach just became even easier: The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) launched a new iPhone application – keyword: WPBGO – and a complementary web site, More than 2800 users have already downloaded the free application.

The main page of the WPBGO application features user-friendly navigation buttons to access a comprehensive listing of the more than 100 shops and restaurants in the Clematis District and CityPlace, as well as a “More” button that provides details on events and other attractions. Users can either search for a specific business, or can enter keywords such as “Italian restaurant” to view a complete listing of available options. The search result provides all contact information, with an auto-dial feature for a direct-connect to the business. Users can also utilize the iPhone GPS navigation system to get directions to the selected business from their current location. The download is available for free from the Apple store ( or

“The new iPhone application reflects the kind of innovation and creativity that Downtown is known for, plus delivers on our commitment to making the District visitor-friendly and easy to navigate,” said Melissa Wohlust, executive director of the DDA. “There’s so much happening here that these tools provide one-click access to everything, from discovering the newest shops, restaurants and nightlife to checking out details about big events like Downtown’s six-week kaleidoscope of holiday celebrations, Moonfest and Clematis Countdown, lectures at the new library and much more.”

The iPhone application concept, which was developed by Carey O’Donnell PR Group as part of its marketing and PR program for the DDA, also includes a detailed map to Downtown’s more than 8,000 parking spaces, and links to the area’s Twitter feed (@DowntownWPB) and Facebook page.

The web site, is an expanded version of the application that features a blog on the main page that highlights business specials and promotions, new business openings, event announcements and insights into noteworthy happenings Downtown. Those interested can subscribe to the site to receive just-posted blog entries via e-mail.
