West Palm Beach, FL- The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) paid tribute to the Clematis by Night – produced by the City of West Palm Beach Parks and Recreation Department/Division of Community Events on September 15th, 2010, during the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards Ceremony held at the IFEA’s 55th Annual Convention & Expo. The City was presented with seven awards in the prestigious IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards competition. Awards were won in the following categories:

Taking home six of the seven awards, Clematis by Night was honored for multiple programming, marketing and site changes initiated with its 15th Anniversary celebrated on June 3, 2010. For the “classic party with a new spin”, the City implemented lasting changes including rotating the stage 180 degrees to take advantage of the beautiful new waterfront, adding a beverage gardens with new seating, and weekly installation of fun, quirky directional signage and photo opportunity areas. New monthly programming also kicked off with the first Thursday showcasing classic cars, the 2nd Thursday revving up downtown with the Enforcers Motorcycle Club exhibit, the 3rd Thursday featuring the funky merchants from Northwood Village and the 4th Thursday offering interactive exhibits by the Armory Art Center and Palm Beach Photographic Museum. The venue, programming and marketing changes are working as Clematis by Night is seeing crowds of up to 2,500 on Thursday nights. The 2010 IFEA awards bring the total international, national and regional honors won by City events to more than 100 over the past 15 years.
Sponsored by industry leader Haas & Wilkerson Insurance, the professional IFEA competition draws entries from among the world’s top festivals and events. Winning entries came from organizations as diverse as the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Denver, CO; Borderfest Association, Festival of Lights, Hidalgo, TX; Shows Etc.-Idaho State Capital Building Rededication Celebration, Boise, ID; Kentucky Derby Festival, Louisville, KY; Saint Louis Art Fair, Saint Louis, MO; and the International VSA Festival, Washington DC.
International contenders included such diverse event organizations as Baekje Cultural Festival, South Korea; Ludwig Van Beethoven Easter Festival, Krakow, Poland; Rotterdam Festivals, Rotterdam, The Netherlands; Festival Lent, Slovenia and Sentosa Development Corporation, Sentosa, Singapore.
Awards were handed out in 69 different categories in total including Best TV Promotion; Social Media Site, Event Program; Commemorative Poster; Overall Sponsorship Program; Environmental Program; Educational Program, Children’s Programming; Media Relations Campaign; Overall Merchandising Program; Festival & Event Management Degree Programs to the highest award reflecting the best overall festival & event in the world – the Grand Pinnacle.
