Super-Charged Celebration for the 1st Anniversary of the WPB Waterfront

Motown legends, The Spinners, headline event; original batmobile on site and winners of CBS’ Live to Dance!

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 15, 2011) — A “Super-Charged Celebration” is coming to town on Sunday, February 20, 2011 to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the West Palm Beach Waterfront. Free and open to the public, the event is from 3 to 10 p.m. throughout Waterfront Commons, Flagler Drive and the Meyer Amphitheatre.

The more than 50,000 anticipated guests will delight in a myriad of super-dazzling events, bites and sights. Highlights include dazzling fireworks at 8 p.m.; Super Hero Kid’s Area, including the original batmobile; winners of CBS’s Live to Dance; a chili cook-off; and a lively performance by The Spinners, national Motown legends known for hits like “Working my way back to you girl,” “Then Came You” and a dozen more. They’ve sold more than 60 million records, have had 18 Solid Gold Top 40 hits and eight Top 10s.

That’s just the beginning of the events planned for the Super-Charged Celebration. The schedule is as follows:


3:00 to 5:50 p.m.         Performance by The Motowners

6:00 to 6:20 p.m.         D’Angelo and Amanda, winners of CBS’ Live to Dance

6:30 – 7:55 p.m.          Performance by The Spinners

7:55 – 8:00 p.m.          Red Bull Aerial Thrill Show

8:00 – 8:15 p.m.          FIREWORKS

8:15 – 10 p.m.             Mayor’s Dance Party


3:00 to 10:00 p.m.       Original Batmobile on display

3:00 to 7:00 p.m.         Super Heroes Kid’s Area, featuring costumes for dress-up, super hero mask decorating, obstacle courses, bell ringers to test muscle strength and more


3:00 to 10:00 p.m.       The Art & Technology of Speed & Design (an exhibition): Delight your eyes with a sampling of some of the most impressive SuperCars, along with access to historical art and news features to understand the origin of today’s fastest, hottest-looking rides. Produced by


3:00 to 7:55 p.m.         Chili Cook-off, presented by The Palm Beach County Council of Fire Fighters to benefit area charities. Wristbands are $10 for unlimited chili samples.

3:00 to 4:00 p.m.         The Edgar Mitchell Project

4:30 to 5:30 p.m.         The Robert Goodman Band

6:30 to 7:30 p.m.         Monique McCall Band

8:15 to 10 p.m.            Hollywood LoveScene

Boats can dock for free at the middle and north dock until 6 pm; at that time, they will be required to stay until given clearance after the fireworks. The South dock will be closed due to the proximity to the fireworks.

Parking is $5 in all City-owned lots and garages. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for comfortable seating during performances and fireworks.
