As Mayor Muoio continues her evaluation of the various city departments, she announced today that she has eliminated the Planning Director position, currently held by Charles Wu.
The Mayor indicated that the Planning Department will be reorganized and a distribution of duties will occur to maximize the efficiency and cost effectiveness to the business community, the city and its residents.
According to the Property Appraiser’s Office, property values have decreased 5.4% and the city is not seeing increases in any other major revenue sources. Although these decisions are difficult ones to make, the city’s current budget deficit is six million dollars for fiscal year 2011/2012.
Evaluations of other City Departments are still ongoing.
Mayor Muoio thanked Director Wu for his years of service to the City and for bringing the city through its largest building boom in recent years.
