Mayor Muoio and Commissioner Moffett Help Deliver Meals

Mayor Jeri Muoio and Commissioner Sylvia Moffett Join Mayors From Across the Country in Mayors for Meals Effort

West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio joined hundreds of mayors from across the country in demonstrating their support for Meals on Wheels by delivering meals to seniors.

Meals on Wheels Taking part in the Mayors for Meals program, Mayor Muoio and City Commissioner Sylvia Moffett delivered a meal to the home of James Drayton on Thursday, March 22. One of dozens of residents who receive hot mid-day meals daily thanks to the program, Drayton, now 82, suffered a slight stroke and has limited mobility.

“We are pleased to be able to show our support for Meals on Wheels whenever possible and to help raise awareness of the important work this organization does in our community,” Mayor Muoio said.

During the month of March, Meals on Wheels programs across the country have joined with Meals on Wheels Association of America to raise awareness of senior hunger in their communities. Locally, Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches is reaching out to those seniors in need and plans to serve more than 8,000 meals this year.

“We very grateful to Mayor Muoio and Commissioner Moffett for all they’ve done for Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches,” says Charles Ring, the organization’s executive director. “The city of West Palm Beach has truly been a great partner in support of our efforts.”

About Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches: Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches is a non-profit organization dedicated to nourishing and enriching the lives of the homebound in the West Palm Beach and Palm Beach areas.
