Downtown WPB welcomes ‘WeCar’

It’s environmentally and business friendly, it’s ultra-convenient, and it’s now available in downtown West Palm Beach.

On Monday, June 11, 2012, at 11:00am, West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio will be the first to take the City’s new “WeCar by Enterprise” for a spin around the block.  WeCar is a membership based car sharing program that allows drivers to use a car for an hour, a day, or a weekend.

Once registered, you simply check on line to see if the WeCar vehicle is available, and head to the garage. Wave your membership card over a window sensor, and the door unlocks! The keys are inside, along with a gas card you can use to pay for gas!  Use the WeCar for as long as you need it, then simply park it where you picked it up.  The WeCar is ready to be shared with the next driver!

The new WeCar (a Toyota Prius hybrid) will be parked in the City’s Evernia parking garage, located at 333 Evernia Street, and will be available 24/7 to any member of the program who needs it. WeCar is a division of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and the result of a partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation.

WeCar is available to residents, commuters, and businesses needing to rent a vehicle on an hourly basis. Car sharing supports the city’s sustainability goals by enabling more commuters and residents to go car free, reducing overall emissions and congestion.
