Festive Facebook App promotes 4th on Flagler

Real “photo boards” will be featured throughout the Downtown and the Waterfront area

The City of West Palm Beach has launched a fun, festive Facebook application to promote 4th on Flagler, the city’s free Independence Day celebration on July 4, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.,  which allows fans to place an image of their face inside a famous scene in U.S. history. Fans can upload a photo from their Facebook profile to be inserted inside a backdrop of their choice: Mount Rushmore, the first steps on the moon, Rosie the Riveter, the Lincoln Memorial and many more. The images, which include WPB.org/4th, can be downloaded and shared with friends on Facebook, shared on Twitter and pinned on Pinterest boards.

Promoting the event through social media allows the City to engage with the more than 10,160 fans on the Facebook page while building anticipation for the event, which will feature real “photo boards” of historic moments for guests to take pictures with.

Guests can become a fan of the page at Facebook.com/CityofWPB. The ‘face –in –hole’ photo application will be available on June 15, 2012.

This year’s 4th on Flagler is themed, ‘This 4th was Made for You and Me: Celebrating great moments and places in America.’ Guests can expect the largest fireworks display in south Florida; fun, festive photo opportunities where they can put their face in history with “face –in–hole” photo boards depicting famous moments in U.S. history; and a 640-pound cheese sculpture mirroring Mount Rushmore.
