Sandy causes intermittent WPB Flagler Flooding

Alternate Routes During Flooding Include Olive Avenue & Dixie Highway

(West Palm Beach, FL) – For the next few days, West Palm Beach residents can expect to see intermittent flooding along Flagler Drive in the city.

A combination of storm surge from hurricane Sandy, a full moon affecting tidal conditions, and the rise of high tide conditions twice daily are causing several locations along Flagler Drive to experience flooding. No homes are being affected. The flooding is not caused by, or causing any infrastructure damage.

The flooding will take place from approximately 8:00am – 11:00am, and then again from approximately 8:00pm – 11:00pm.  During those times, drivers are urged to use Olive Avenue or Dixie Highway as alternate routes.

If you come across standing water, do not attempt to drive through it. Drivers should use caution when driving along Flagler Drive, and keep an eye out for detour signs, barricades, standing water, and fellow drivers.
