(West Palm Beach, FL) – It’s called the “American Dream” for a reason. The feeling of pride and accomplishment that comes with owning your own home is part of the fabric that is our nation.
Home ownership is one of the best ways to improve neighborhoods. When individuals own their own homes, they have a greater stake in keeping their neighborhoods clean and safe. Home ownership creates real sense of pride in an area.
Unfortunately, for many families home ownership is beyond their reach. But this Saturday, the City of West Palm Beach will be working to help families achieve their own small piece of the dream.
Five new houses built by the City of West Palm Beach will be open for viewing by families hoping to own their own home. The homes are all in the historic Coleman Park section of the city.
“We are going to do everything we can to make sure any eligible family is able to own their own home,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio. “The City of West Palm Beach is providing purchase assistance to eligible residents, and if they are approved, these homes are move-in ready for them.”
All five homes will be immediately available to low income families, with more home available later in the year. The city used federal funding to purchase and rehabilitate foreclosed and abandoned properties that might otherwise have become sources of abandonment and blight within the community.
The event will begin at the Coleman Park Community Center promptly at 10am on Saturday, June 1st. Residents will be given the open house schedule and allowed ample time to view all five properties. Food and refreshments will be served and a gift card drawing will take place for everyone that registered to view all five properties.
