“An excellent level of transparency.”
“A solid foundation for the budget discussion.”
“A strong, concise presentation of the financial issues facing the City.”
“An excellent discussion of goals and objectives.”
(West Palm Beach, FL) – No, this isn’t what critics are saying about the latest blockbuster at the box office.
This is what industry experts are saying about the work done by the City of West Palm Beach Finance Department. The Government Finance Officers Association has just awarded the City of West Palm Beach its “Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.”
What’s that, you ask?
The award is given to a government that has met the highest principles of government budgeting, and has put together a budget presentation that meets nationally recognized benchmarks.
“This award is the latest example of how this city continues its commitment to transparency, clarity and open government,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio. “Jeff Green, our Finance Director, and his entire team are a perfect example of how we are working to make every level of what we do open and understandable to our residents.”
According to one judge who reviewed the City’s budget documents, West Palm Beach “demonstrates an extraordinary effort in affording the public at large a maximum review of pertinent information.”
The Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
