September 3, 2013

(West Palm Beach, FL) – West Palm Beach City Administrator Ed Mitchell, who has faithfully worked for our city for two decades has decided to accept a private sector position on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Recently Ed had been a finalist for a few public sector positions in that area.  He has personal ties to the Gulf Coast region and has hoped to move there.

“I have been aware of his personal situation for some time and as a result I have anticipated his departure,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio. “Now that Ed has announced his decision, I intend to move forward and will, in the near future be announcing my plan to fill the position.”

“On behalf of all four administrations Ed has served, I want to thank him for his dedication, professionalism and leadership.  During the two years he and I have worked together, I have seen firsthand how this city has benefited from his experience, institutional knowledge and leadership,” said Muoio.

She added, “I wish him success in his new challenges and look forward to beginning a new chapter for our city.”

Ed’s last day is expected to be October 18th.
