(West Palm Beach, FL) – West Palm Beach Police Chief Vince Demasi will be staying, and is no longer interested in the chief job in Cincinnati.

Chief Demasi said Tuesday he spoke with representatives of the selection committee in Cincinnati and told them he no longer was interested in the position, and that they should withdraw his name from consideration.

Demasi had said previously he only pursued the job because of his almost 40 year history with the Ohio department.  At the time, he also was making frequent trips back to Cincinnati to care for his father.

“I said from the start that I hoped the Chief would stay. His work is leading to remarkable success across the city,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio. “His popularity with neighborhood leaders and residents is proof of how he is changing the culture of the entire department, and those changes are having a real impact.”

The latest on Chief Demasi was revealed during Mayor Muoio’s weekly media briefing.  Mayor Muoio makes herself available to answer any questions on various topics every week during a media briefing.
