October 3, 2013
(West Palm Beach, FL) – It may have been the toughest audience she’s had in a long time! West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio today found herself face-to-face with some pretty tough critics. It was a room full of three and four year old children.
Mayor Muoio visited the city’s Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach today to read a story to a group of Head Start children from Lake Worth. It was all part of national “Read for the Record” day.

Today people across the country read the children’s book Otis by Loren Long in support of Jumpstart’s mission to work towards the day that every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.
In 2012, 2.3 million people participated in Read for the Record. Since 2006, the campaign has:
- Engaged 9 MILLION children
- Raised more than $8 MILLION for early education programs
