(West Palm Beach, FL) – The public got its first look at the process to possibly outsource the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) today as the initial meeting of the evaluation committee was carried live on the city’s West Palm TV channel.

While the law doesn’t require the committee’s discussions to be held in public, West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio has said she feels it is important that the public be able to watch the process, and that the evaluations be as transparent as possible.

Five members of the committee voted on which companies would be invited to present their qualifications.  The five voting members of the committee were Douette Pryce with the Urban Land Institute, Keith Spina with the Chamber of Commerce, William Halliday with the Northwood Village Merchants Association, Russell Green with the CRA Advisory Board, and Jeff Green who wears two hats as the Treasurer of the CRA as well as the city’s Finance Director.

A sixth committee member, Steven Lindorff with the Florida Redevelopment Association was on the panel to offer expertise but did not have a vote.

The four firms chosen by the committee to receive invitations to present were Ch2mHill, Redevelopment Management Associates, Special District Services and The Urban Group.

They will be asked to make presentations to the committee which will then reduce the number of firms to 2 or 3.  Those companies will then present to the City Commission and Mayor Muoio.

Two of the six firms vying for the job were eliminated today. They were Global Business Development Center and Kennedy Wilson.
