West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio’s office released Friday.
INCREASED OPERATING HOURS FOR DOWNTOWN TROLLEY
The City has increased the operating hours of the Downtown Trolley service Green Line to encourage people to use Tri-Rail or other commuter services during the week of 11/18 – 11/22.
The Green Line trolley service, which serves downtown and the rail station will be operating from 6am – 7pm, Monday – Friday the week of 11/18 – 11/22. This is an hour earlier in the morning, and an hour later in the evening to encourage the use of mass transit for the week.
ADDITIONAL STOPS ALONG THE DOWNTOWN TROLLEY
The City has added an additional stop to the Green Line trolley service. The additional stop is at Datura Street and Olive Avenue, and is meant to increase the convenience to riders looking to avoid driving downtown during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
REQUEST FOR DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES TO OFFER FLEX TIME TO EMPLOYEES
In an effort to ease the rush hour congestion that will be caused by the bridge closure, West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio is asking employers in and around downtown West Palm Beach to offer flex time as an option to their employees. If an employer is able to shift the hours that some or all of their employees report to work, it will reduce the amount of rush hour traffic for the week.
CITY ASKS FPL ROAD CONSTRUCTION CREWS ON FLAGLER DRIVE TO ADJUST HOURS
The City has asked for the hours of an ongoing road construction project by FPL along Flagler Drive right between the two remaining open bridges be changed. FPL has agreed to shift their road closure times next week along Flagler Drive near Dyer Road to avoid rush hour impact.
Flagler Drive, near Dyer Road, will now be closed only between the hours of 9:30am – 3:30pm. Flagler Drive will be open until 9:30am, and reopen at 3:30pm to allow drivers using one of the two remaining bridges easier access.
The City would like to thank FPL for their cooperation in helping our residents through the week.
CITY INSTALLS ADDITIONAL BIKE RACKS ALONG CLEMATIS STREET TO ENCOURAGE BICYCLE USAGE
The City of West Palm Beach Parking Administration has installed additional bike racks on the 400 block of Clematis Street to encourage the use of bikes as a commuter option.
In addition, bike lockers are located inside the city’s Banyan Street garage on the corner of Banyan Boulvard and Olive Avenue. The City’s Parking Administration will fast track requests for their rental all next week.
CITY ENCOURAGES THE USE OF CAR POOLING, AND THE USE OF THE CITY’S DESIGNATED CAR POOL PARKING SPOTS
The City of West Palm Beach encourages the use of car pools, and has specially designated parking spots in the Evernia garage and the Clematis garage for already-registered car pool vehicles.
TAKE TRI-RAIL IF POSSIBLE
The City is urging people to consider using the Tri-Rail commuter service next week, and to leave their cars at home. This will cut down on the number of cars entering and leaving the downtown area. We have made available here the Tr-Rail schedules for your convenience.
