NEW VIDEO: New Leadership Team Joins New Chief at WPB Police

New West Palm Beach Police Chief Bryan Kummerlen was one of four members of the department promoted and sworn in during the ceremony.

(West Palm Beach, FL) – Not only is there a new top cop in West Palm Beach, but there are also new members of the leadership team at the department as well.

Following West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio officially promoting Bryan Kummerlen to Police Chief, three other members of the department were promoted to new positions.

“I am so proud of the work that we do in this police department and I know that bottom line to all of you folks here that are members of this agency is that service is of number one importance to you,” said Mayor Jeri Muoio. “The citizens recognize that.”

Captain Sarah Mooney was promoted to Assistant Chief of the department. Mooney has been with the department since 1995, and most recently was in charge of the Investigations Bureau where she supervised the Special and Criminal Investigations Units as well as Crime Scene and the Evidence Section.

Lieutenant Amy Sinnott was promoted to Captain. In 1990, Sinnott was studying accounting at FAU when she decided to take a hiatus from college to pursue a career in law enforcement. Her most recent command was supervising the Traffic Section.

Lieutenant James Smigel was also promoted to Captain. Smigel started as a patrol officer in 1992. In 2010, Smigel was promoted to lieutenant, worked in Patrol and then assigned to Staff Services where he and others revamped the hiring process and assisted in the overhaul of the Training Section’s record keeping process.

All three newly promoted members of the department will be members of Chief Bryan Kummerlen’s command staff.
