Friday with the FRIENDS Book Club: A Brown-Bag Lunch Event @ your City Library
Date: 04-11-2014 Starting Time: 11:30 am
Join us for some book chatter at 11:30am followed by a moderated book discussion with Tina Maura, the library's book goddess. For the month of April is "The Light Between Oceans" by M.L. Stedman. Description: After four harrowing years on the front lines of World War I, Tom Sherbourne finds solace as a lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, an isolated island outpost off the coast of Australia. He is joined by a young and loving wife, Isabel, whose dream of having a child is drifting heartbreakingly out of reach. When a boat washes up on the remote island carrying a dead body and a crying baby, Isabel embraces the infant as a gift. Against Tom's judgment, they claim her as their own. When Tom and Isabel return to the mainland two years later, the devastating implications of their choice are revealed in this complex tale of longing and loss. The book club is a brown-bag lunch event. Bring your own lunch or purchase lunch before you arrive from any downtown Merchant. This event is free and open to Friends members and the public. All are welcome! Sponsored by the FRIENDS of the Mandel Public Library.
