Affecting Owahee Trail August 2nd - November 11th

Owahee Trail

A portion of the Owahee Trail will be closed from August 2nd to November 11th in order to conduct construction to improve water flow of the preserve. Click here for more information.

Trail Length: 16.6 miles

Location: Can be accessed via Apoxee Trail, SWA trail or by parking at 8264 Northlake Blvd and hiking/biking along the sidewalk 0.5mi east to the trailhead.

Description: The bikeable perimeter trail follows a levee containing sections of loose sand, dirt, and crushed concrete. The trail connect with both the Apoxee trail and SWA trails.

Wildlife Viewing: Wading birds include snowy egrets, glossy ibis and roseate spoonbills. Alligators are common in the canal while bobcat and deer can sometimes can be sighted on the levee.

Activites: Hiking, wildlife viewing and biking.
