On May 11t, 2014, at 6:00 a.m., a fatal traffic crash occurred on Okeechobee Blvd and Baywinds Dr. A 1998, Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling west on Okeechobee Blvd., in the right lane well above the posted speed limit of 50 m.p.h.
The driver of the Mercury, lost control causing the front of the vehicle to collide with a street light pole on the northwest corner of Baywinds Dr. As a result of the collision, two men died and one is still listed in critical condition. The driver, 21-year-old Drew Davis, of Royal Palm Beach died at St. Mary’s Hospital in the operating room. The rear passenger, 22-year-old Mitchell Ferguson, of Royal Palm Beach, died at the scene. The front passenger, 21-year-old Michael Pastorius is expected to survive the crash, but is listed in critical condition at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Alcohol and speed are suspected causes of the collision. This case remains under investigation.
