“Free” Employment Readiness Workshop: “How to get a Job”
Session One – Wednesday February 5th, 2014
Offers a wide range of services to include resume and cover letter development (Students will use Vickers House Computers to develop their own resume, and cover letter.)
Session Two – Wednesday February 12th, 2014
Students will search the job market, apply for a job, and gather documents needed. Students will practice filling out job applications and search for jobs on-line on our Vickers House computers.
Session Three – Wednesday February 19th, 2014
How to handle phone interviews, one-on-one and group interviews, and follow-up with a potential employer. This session includes how to greet the employer, appearance and other body language techniques for the interview, sample questions for the interview, and dealing with the tough questions.
Session Four – Wednesday February 26th, 2014
Will include practicing an interview for a simulated job, using their resume and application.
This mock interview will be video taped and played back for the student- to review dos and dont’s and how to make the necessary changes to get the job.
Upon completion of this course Vickers House will continue to work with these students to assist in their job search, being there for support and guidance when needed. Students need to bring pen and notebook to take notes, for first session bring old resumes if possible, information of previous work history, documentation needed for work (what you don’t have will be assessed.)
