West Palm Beach Fire Rescue has provided Basic and Advanced Life Support to the citizens and visitors of the City since 1975. All calls for service are received via the 911 system and transferred to the County-Wide Fire Rescue Dispatch center.
Advanced and Basic Life Support Service is provided through the minimum requirements of all firefighters to maintain certification as Emergency Medical Technician. Approximately 80% of all operational personnel are trained to the Paramedic level. All Rescue, Engine, Squad, and Ladder Companies are capable of providing ALS level service. The Division operates under the direction of a Battalion Chief of EMS. Each 24 hour shift has a Captain dedicated to Quality Assurance and EMS scene management. Medical Control is under the direction of a contract Medical Director.
Additionally, the SWAT-Medic Program provides emergency medical services in support of the West Palm Beach Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
