    All of our Fire Rescue personnel are trained as Paramedics or Medical technicians. You can have your blood pressure checked at any City Fire Station. Call (561) 804-4700 between the hours of 8:00 - 5:00 Monday through Friday and ask for the location of the fire station closest to your home - or simply inquire at any City fire station.

  • What are the minimum educational qualifications for employment with the West Palm Beach Fire Rescue Dept?
    The minimum qualifications for firefighter are possession of a High School diploma (or GED), State of Florida certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic, and completion of the State of Florida Minimum Standards for Firefighter. The City?s Human Resources Dept is responsible for recruitment and advertisements are made through the local media when openings are available.

  • Why does a Fire Truck show up when someone has a Medical Emergency?
    All Firefighters in the City are trained as either Paramedics or Emergency Medical technicians. When a medical emergency occurs, the closest unit available is always dispatched (which is often a fire engine or a ladder company) in addition to the closest available ambulance. This ensures that our citizens always receive treatment as quickly as possible in their time of need.
