Historic Designation Plaque Program
Are you interested in having your historic structure recognized with a beautiful bronze plaque? The City's Historic Preservation Section and Historic Preservation Board (HPB) offer property owners the opportunity to order a historic plaque that can be installed on the building to identify the date the structure was built and mark its contribution as one of the City's important historic resources.
Is my building eligible for a historic plaque?
Any building that is located within a historic district, or any building that is otherwise individually designated as an historic structure, is eligible for a plaque.
If you're unsure if your property is within an historic district or otherwise designated, you can utilize the online Zoning Map Viewer and click on "Historic Layers"; or don't hesitate to contact Benjamen Salata, City Historic Preservation Planner, at (561) 822-1457 or via email at bsalata@wpb.org.
How much does a plaque cost?
The plaque is currently $190 and covers the cost of manufacturing.
How long does it take to receive the plaque?
In order to keep the cost down, plaques are not ordered until several requests have been submitted. It takes anywhere from six (6) to eight (8) weeks to receive the plaquesonce the City has placed the order with the manufacturer. Once the plaques arrive, you will be notified that it is available to be picked up.
Will the plaque be installed for me?
It is up to the property owner to have their plaques installed; mounting screws are provided.
How do I order a plaque?
Complete the online Historic Designation Plaque Order Form and submit it to the Historic Preservation Section. After you click on the link, scroll down until you find the Historic Plaque form.
