The West Palm Beach Fire Department was established in 1894 as the "Flagler Alerts" and is one of the original fire departments in the State of Florida.

The West Palm Beach Fire Department is an all-hazards response agency protecting over 118,000 residents and millions of visitors who live, work and play in our growing City.

365 days a year, our highly trained personnel protect life, property and the environment through their direct involvement in fire prevention, firefighting, emergency medical care, technical rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, disaster response, public education, and community service.

A total of 291 uniformed Firefighters, of which 90% are Paramedics, are always on duty at Fire Stations across the 58 square-mile City of West Palm Beach.

Last year, the men and women of the West Palm Beach Fire Department answered the call for help over 30,000 times.
