Safety Improvements in the Wastewater Treatment Plant

Project Description

As a part of risk reduction program, the City regularly evaluates the condition of the existing infrastructure and performs repairs to improve safety and operation and reduce maintenance. This project entails investigating and reviewing various elements of the East Central Regional Water Reclamation Facility (ECR) - wastewater treatment plant - and develop recommendations to improve operations and safety. Under an initial assessment, multiple safety improvements were made and additional improvements were identified. The following plant elements have been identified as needing improvements: Sludge Dewatering Facility and Truck Loading Stations, Clarifiers (Nos. 1 through 8), Chlorine Contact Chambers (Nos. 1 and 2), Mixed Liquor Troughs (North and South), Bypass Structure, and Decanting Tanks (Nos. 1 through 3). The improvements include repairing/replacing gratings, railings, toe plates, railing post/concrete connection, and providing fall protection. Click here to see additional details.

This project is ongoing and all the project elements identified in the investigation will be completed by Summer 2018.
