General Pavilion and Field Rental Rules

General Pavilion Rental Rules

Failure to follow any of these rules will result in loss of deposit and immediate revocation of the pavilion permit.

  1. Permit holders have priority. Be sure to have your permit on hand during the use of the pavilion. Call the City of West Palm Beach Police Department at 561-822-1900 (TTY: 800-955-8771) should any problems arise.
  2. Vehicles must park in designated areas only. No vehicles are permitted to drive on or park on the grass anywhere in the park.
  3. Permit holder is responsible for damages to the pavilion site during rentals.
  4. Permit holders are responsible for keeping the park clean for others who will be using the pavilion and park. No grills are to be brought into the park area for use. Trash must be placed in trash receptacles.
  5. Animals, amusement rides, and water activities are prohibited. Bounce houses are permitted when approved in advance. Proof of liability insurance from the bounce house vendor is required naming the City as additionally insured. A generator must be provided by the insured/vendor for bounce houses.
  6. Amplified music and DJ's are prohibited. This includes but is not limited to: speakers, public address systems, bullhorns, live bands, and stereo noise audible more than 100 feet from the source.
  7. Supervision of all children and teenagers is required.
  8. The consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages are prohibited in parks except at the designated pavilions.
  9. Special event Insurance may be required. Coverage may be purchased through the City.
  10. Any litter, refuse left behind, damage to furniture or structure, use of staples, nails, screws, thumb tacks, tacky stickers, etc. will result in loss of deposit and immediate revocation of pavilion permit.
  11. Pavilion permits grant exclusive use of rented pavilions ONLY. All other amenities located within the park are open for public use or subject to closure at any time.

General Field Permit Rules

  1. Permit holders have priority. Renting party must have a valid permit at the field noted on the permit. Call the City of West Palm Beach Police Department at (561) 822-1900 should any problems arise.
  2. Field use is by permit for groups of 6 or more.
  3. Painting of lines on the field is not permitted.
  4. Vehicles must park in designated areas only. No vehicles are permitted to drive on or park on the grass anywhere in the park.
  5. Permit holder is responsible for damages to the field during rentals.
  6. Permit holder is responsible to keep the park clean for others who will be using the field and park.
  7. Amplified music and DJ's are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: speakers, public address systems, bullhorns, and stereo noise audible more than 100 feet from the source.
  8. No equipment will be provided.
  9. Supervision of all children and teenagers is required.
  10. The consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the parks except at the designated pavilions.
  11. Special event permits and insurance is required for league or competitive play. Coverage may be purchased through the City.

Rental FAQs

Can I bring a tent?

Open tent shelters can be brought into and set up in parks with a pavilion reservation. Tents must be weighted down and cannot be staked into the ground. Staking can cause damage to the irrigation system and will result in an immediate loss of deposit fees.

 

Can I bring exta tables?

Yes, extra tables can be brought into the parks with a pavilion reservation.

 

Can I bring my pet to a park?

Pets are allowed in all City parks except for Echo Lake Park and Sunset Park. Pets must be confined by the owner or on a leash not more than six (6) feet long and kept under physical control at all times. You are responsible for removal of all waste. Signs are posted accordingly. If you want to have your dog run free, consider visiting one of our dog parks located at Howard Park, Dreher Park, Mary Brandon Park, Sullivan Park, Osprey Park, and Village Paws Park.

 

Can I have a DJ at my event?

No. Amplified music and DJ's using speakers, public address systems, bullhorns, and stereo noise audible more than 100 feet from the source are prohibited. If you wish to have an event with amplified music or a DJ, you will need to fill out a special event application and submit it to the Department of Parks and Recreation 6 to 8 weeks before your planned event date. Can I have alcohol in the park?

Beer and wine are only permitted under pavilions with a reservation. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all other outdoor areas within West Palm Beach parks.If you wish to have an event with alcohol, you will need to fill out a special event application and submit it to the Department of Parks and Recreation 6 to 8 weeks before your planned event date. How can I schedule the use of an Athletic Field?

All athletic fields and green space are schedule by the Department of Parks and Recreation, Athletics Division. You can call (561) 804-4900 to find out about availability.

 

How do I get a memorial tree/bench in the park?

You can begin the process of having a memorial tree or bench placed at a park by contacting Volunteer Services Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation at (561) 804-4906.

 

How do I rent a Parks and Recreation Facility?

You can receive information on renting a facility by calling (561) 804-4900 or by visiting your local community center.

 

How do I reserve a tennis court or basketball court for lessons, camps, or tournaments?

Courts can be reserved by calling the Department of Parks and Recreation at (561) 804-4900. Fees may vary.

 

How do I reserve an outdoor pavilion/shelter?

You can reserve a pavilion by visiting any one of our Community Centers or our Administrative office located at West Palm Beach City Hall. Pavilions available to rent are located at Dreher Park, Gaines Park, Howard Park, Lincoln Park, and South Olive Parks. 

Large Pavilions can hold up to 75 people, medium pavilions hold up to 40 people, and small pavilions hold up to 25. Contact us at (561) 804-4900 for availability and more information. 

 

Is there a charge to use the boat ramps?

Yes, parking permits are required for all boat trailer parking at the Currie Park boat ramps. Permits are available to purchase through theCity of West Palm Beach Parking Permit Systemor via mobile device through our partners areParkmobile.

 

May I bring my own grill into a park?

No grills are to be brought into the park area for use. Most picnic areas have grills that are available. When leaving the area you are required to take your coals and embers with you. Leaving or dumping your coals/embers in the park is prohibited.

 

May I drive motorized vehicles, such as ATVs, in the Park?

Motorized vehicles of any kind are only permitted in parking lots and on the roadways. ATVs or any other kind of motorized vehicles are prohibited on our trails and other areas within our parks. Vehicles are not permitted to drive on the grass to pavilions.

This park is also the home of the Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society and the Cox Science Center and Aquarium. Park amenities include a disc golf course, heart par course, fishing dock, playgrounds, barbecue grills, sand volleyball court, open play fields and 10 picnic shelters of various sizes.

This park offers the most diverse facilities of all. Conveniently located at Australian Avenue and 15th Street, situated behind the community center and municipal pool you will find five picnic shelters with barbecue grills and numerous sports facilities.

Lincoln Park is the newest and westernmost park located in the City. Located just south of the Ballpark of The Palm Beaches, this park includes two medium shelters with grills, a playground, a wet play area, two multi-purpose fields, four lighted basketball courts, a jogging trail, and fitness equipment. This park offers all residents a new location to gather with family and friends.

Rink Rental Information

This park is in the south end of the City offering a myriad of recreational facilities. South Olive Park is one of the newest community centers, offering a wet play area, playground, two picnic shelters with barbecue grills and numerous sports facilities.

The Aquatic Center is available after operating hours for private rentals for special occasions, celebrations and parties. A facility rental application must be submitted prior to your event and may be obtained at the facility. Please allow 3 weeks prior to your event for approval. Fees do not include staffing. Fountain Reservations

From June through August, the City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation requires a permit for groups of 10 or more who want to use the Bill Moss - Hillcrest Park, Centennial Square, and South Olive Park fountains. **Two-hour permits are $26.75 for residents and $37.45 (tax included) for groups outside city limits.

**Please note that permit holders are not given exclusive use of the fountains, they do not include the use of pavilions, and others may join your group at any time.

The fountains can be reserved at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Offices at 401 Clematis Street.

  • The Bill Moss - Hillcrest Paseo fountain is located at 3401 Parker Ave., in West Palm Beach. Amenities at this park include a playground, a jogging trail, restrooms, a wet play area, public parking, and two multipurpose fields.
  • The Centennial Fountain, located in Centennial Square at the south end of Clematis Street in Downtown West Palm Beach, can accommodate up to 100 people. This plaza includes benches, tables and chairs, as well as an interactive fountain that is a popular site for children's play. Street-side parking and garage parking is available nearby.
  • The South Olive Park fountain is located at 345 Summa Street, in West Palm Beach. Amenities at the park include a gymnasium, multi-purpose field, outside basketball court, four racquetball courts, two playgrounds, wet play area, pavilions, tennis center with nine hard tennis courts, walking and bike trail, restrooms and a community center.

Upon arrival, the group leader must present the permit to the fountain guard. For questions regarding fountain reservation, permitting procedures, or to obtain a request form, please call the City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation at (561) 804-4900.
