       GUNMAN WHO HUNTED DOWN CO-WORKER ARRESTED

 

The gunman who brutally opened fire on a co-worker Saturday night, critically wounding him, is in jail facing an attempted murder charge.

 

A ShotSpotter ™ gunshot alert was received at 6:23 p.m. October 27, detecting six rounds in the 1600 block of North Australian Avenue. Police officers at a nearby event also heard the shots, and immediately responded. They found a man lying in the street, bleeding. Shot multiple times, officers administered lifesaving first aid aid to the victim, who was rushed to St. Mary’s Trauma Center by West Palm Beach Fire Department paramedics.

 

The suspect, identified as Christopher J. McCullon, 52, of Riviera Beach, was seen chasing the victim, Courtney Antwan Cross, also 52 and from Riviera Beach, down the street, shooting at him. After Cross collapsed, McCullon stood over him and kept shooting, and stomping on the his head. McCullon walked away from the scene carrying the gun.

 

West Palm Beach detectives were assisted by the Riviera Beach Police Department SWAT Team in apprehending McCullon Monday night at his home. He is being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Main Detention Center, where he faces one count of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. Chase remains in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit in serious condition.
