Esperanza Community Center Ribbon-Cutting for New Location
Relocation aids the center in offering vital community services

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — The City of West Palm Beach is proud to announce the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Esperanza Community Center. The event will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 4 p.m. at its new location, 723 39th Street, and will mark the official celebration of the center's relocation and its commitment to serving the community.

Since 2019, the Esperanza Community Center (ECC) has been dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community in West Palm Beach, particularly in the Northwood area. The center recognizes the invaluable contributions made by its Latino neighbors and aims to create an inclusive environment where they feel valued and supported. The ECC strives to provide day laborers and their families with the necessary resources for a fulfilling and prosperous life, including nutrition and healthcare, affordable housing, legal assistance, workforce training, English as a second language education, and various support services. These services are available to all day laborers, regardless of their ethnicity, who are seeking employment opportunities.

To ensure the continuity of these vital services, the City of West Palm Beach has leased a 2,745 square feet building to the ECC, larger than its previous location, allowing the organization to expand its programming. This arrangement allows the center to remain close to the community it serves, despite the challenges posed by rising operational costs. The City is proud to support the ECC in its mission to provide essential resources and a welcoming environment for day laborers and their families.

Mayor Keith A. James expressed his enthusiasm for the ECC’s new home, stating, “I could not be more thrilled about the move of the Esperanza Community Center, a symbol of hope and assistance for our Latino residents. This partnership showcases my dedication to transforming West Palm Beach into a 'Community of Opportunity for All' by guaranteeing that all individuals in our community can access the necessary resources and assistance to succeed. The new location not only enhances the physical space of the Center but also represents our commitment to progress and growth by integrating the center even more deeply into the community it serves.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Keith A. James and Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Esperanza Community Center, Maricela Torres. Attendees will be able to tour the new building and learn more about the services provided in the center.
