First responders from around the country are putting into practice some of the lessons they learned at this year's Governor's Hurricane Conference, held right here in West Palm Beach.
Preparing for hurricane season means deciding if you should ride out the storm in your home or evacuate to safer shelter. How do you decide? Mayor Keith James welcomed guests to a block party celebrating the success of the new AKA West Palm. The AKA West Palm includes hotel rooms and condos, as well as a restaurant, gourmet food shop, beauty and wellness spa, and pet spa that caters to dogs.
With the onset of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season drawing near, the City of West Palm Beach is reminding residents of the critical importance of readiness in the face of potential storms. While we remain hopeful for a calm season, it is imperative to be fully prepared for any eventuality. The season, spanning from June 1 to Nov. 30, 2024, is when tropical storms and hurricanes are anticipated to form in the Atlantic.
Please join the City of West Palm Beach and Community Redevelopment Agency on Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. for the quarterly Pleasant City Community Meeting. The CRA will provide a presentation on the project updates for the Pleasant City community. The meeting will be held in the Pleasant City Community Center. We hope to see you there!

The next City Commission meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 5 p.m. in City Hall, 401 Clematis Street. Commission meetings are held every other Monday, except for holidays, and the public is encouraged to attend.
