City of West Palm Beach Takes Part in National Drive Electric Week with the Palm Beach Zoo & Conserv
Electric vehicle drivers and enthusiasts gather in West Palm Beach at the National Drive Electric Week Kick Off Evvent
WHAT: Electric vehicle (EV) drivers and enthusiasts in the City of West Palm Beach and surrounding areas will come together to highlight the clean-air benefits and cost-savings of electric cars on September 14, 2019 at the National Drive Electric Week Kick Off event. The event is part of the sixth annual National Drive Electric Week celebration.
Electric vehicles are a key solution for reducing greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change and even help protect our coasts by reducing the need for offshore drilling. Florida is one of the most vulnerable states to the dangers of offshore drilling and the impacts of a changing climate. We are the third most populous state in the US and one of the largest markets for electric vehicles.
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) will give attendees the chance to experience firsthand what it’s like to drive electric. By providing free test drives, SACE will be able to show everyone how electric cars save drivers money in lower fuel cost, significantly less maintenance costs, and also offer better overall safety and performance.
Personal EV owners are encouraged to attend and will receive priority parking under the solar array in the Palm Beach Zoo parking lot this year. Admission is free as the event will take place in the Palm Beach Zoo parking lot from 10am-2pm. However, we encourage everyone to also visit inside the Zoo to view additional electric vehicle displays. Children 13 and under receive free admission to the Palm Beach Zoo on September weekends.
West Palm Beach’s event is one of more than 280 across the country (and around the world) where electric vehicle owners and their neighbors will hold electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, recognition of leaders promoting EVs, launches of new public EV charging stations and other public events.

WHEN: Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 10am-2pm
WHERE: Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society parking lot, 1301 Summit Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33405
VISUALS: Free electric vehicle ride and drives (test drives) provided by Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, electric vehicle displays from local dealerships, personal EV meet-up
The City of West Palm Beach and the Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is organizing the event.  Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association are national organizers. The Nissan LEAF® is the exclusive national automotive sponsor.
