Ms. Johnson brings more than 30 years of diversified municipal experience, including 13 years in county government administration.
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (July 31, 2019) –
West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James announces Faye W. Johnson as Assistant City Administrator for the City of West Palm Beach. Ms. Johnson will oversee the City’s Department of Human Resources, the Office of the City Clerk, Department of Finance, and the Information Technology Department. Ms. Johnson will join the City of West Palm Beach on August 12, 2019.
“I am pleased Ms. Johnson is joining our leadership team,” said Mayor James. “She brings a wealth of knowledge of local government to our City, and I’m excited that she will play an integral role in helping to move our City forward. We welcome her to the team!”
Faye brings to the City more than 30 years of diversified municipal experience including 13 years in county government administration, 17 years in city government operations, and three years of formal city management training. Most recently, Ms. Johnson served as Assistant County Administrator for Palm Beach County. Prior, she worked as County Administrator in St. Lucie County, Deputy Director of Community and Economic Development in the City of Fort Lauderdale, and Director of Housing and Community Development in the City of West Palm Beach. Ms. Johnson is a native of the City of West Palm Beach.
Ms. Johnson will report to Mayor James. She joins the City of West Palm Beach administrative leadership team comprised of City Administrator Jeff Greene and Assistant City Administrators Scott Kelly, Christine Brevik, Armando Fana, and Rick Greene. The City employs approximately 1,600 employees and has an operating budget of $300 million.

Faye Johnson holds a M.P.A. from Howard University and a B.A. in Political Science from Bethune-Cookman College. She has served as Member of the Board of Directors of the Florida City-County Management Association, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, and current Leadership Palm Beach County. She is the recipient of the International City Management Association 2011 Strategic Leadership Award and was named the American City-County Magazine 2011 County Leader of the Year.
