WEST PALM BEACH CRA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The position of Executive Director of the CRA will be eliminated from the City’s contract with RMA and developed into a full-time position with the City.
WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (October 11, 2019) – West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James announces the City’s restructuring of the position of Executive Director of the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). The CRA is managed by Redevelopment Management Associates (RMA).
Effective October 11, 2019, the position of Executive Director of the CRA will be eliminated from the City’s contract with RMA and developed into a full-time position with the City. Prior, the executive director was a contractual position which reported directly to the consulting firm. The restructuring fulfills a campaign promise made by Mayor James to improve transparency, accountability, and coordination with the CRA. The CRA restructuring is occurring as Mayor James, who was sworn-in in April, continues to assemble a dynamic leadership team to help move our city forward. No disruption to CRA projects is anticipated.
Mayor James thanks Jon Ward, outgoing CRA Director, for his years of service to our city and wishes him well in his new capacity with RMA. CRA Deputy Director Allison Justice will serve as Interim Executive Director, while a search for a permanent executive director is underway.
“I am thankful to Jon Ward for his work in our city and wish him well in his new capacity with RMA,” said Mayor James. “I look forward to the continued growth and redevelopment of the areas within CRA Districts, particularly in our city’s north end as well as the downtown. We are working to ensure our city lives up to its true potential, to create opportunities for our residents, and to ensure everyone has a great city in which to live and do business.”
The CRA is a local government agency that works in collaboration with residents, property owners, businesses, developers and other community organizations to foster redevelopment within CRA Districts. There are two CRA districts in the City of West Palm Beach: Downtown/City Center CRA District and Northwood/Pleasant City CRA District.
