Early last week, Mayor Keith A. James named former Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderley as Chief of the West Palm Beach Police Department, subject to the approval of the West Palm Beach City Commission. A Florida native who has served almost 40 years in law enforcement, Chief Adderley served as Fort Lauderdale’s Chief of Police from 2008 -2016 and oversaw an annual budget of $100 million, 535 sworn police officers, and 190 non-sworn employees. Most recently, Chief Adderley served as Colonel at the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Mayor James introduced Chief Adderley two days after announcing a restructuring of the police department.

Ceremonial Groundbreaking Kicks off

Clematis Streetscape - Phase II

Monday's groundbreaking on Clematis Street marked the beginning of improvements to what Mayor James called the City's "Main Street". The construction along the 100 and 200 blocks of Clematis Street will widen sidewalks, add more shade trees and make the road even friendlier for cyclists. There will be fun family activities for the public to enjoy all summer while the work proceeds.

Featuring stunning images of the Preserve and drone videography, the 2 minute long video offers an inpiring visual flight through the City's most natural area. Located at 8264 Northlake Boulevard in the City of West Palm Beach, Grassy Waters Preserve is a 23-square mile pristine remnant of the Everglades, home to endangered species, and a mosaic of wetlands, tree islands, and forested hammocks. Peace in the Streets Walk Sees Great Turnout



A great time was had by all during Thursday's Peace in the Streets gathering in Pleasant City. City workers and police walked, engaged and talked with  residents about solutions to crime and how to increase safety. It was a great chance to talk and make friends.


Georgian Gardens Project Update

The Georgian Gardens Apartments project is at 30% completion. Located at 4330 Community Drive, the pouring of the roof deck and concrete shell scope have been completed, and now masonry work and underground plubing work are well underway.


Related Urban is developing the $21.5M, 87-unit, housing project located on 2.73-acres. When compmlete, the project will feature rental apartments for seniors. The City, though the Housing and Community Development Department, contributed $607,500 in federal programs funds toward its development. 


The development is one way that the City is partnering with the community to address the issues of afforadable housing.

The City of West Palm Beach Department of Parks and Recreation announces it is now accepting summer camp registrations. The “CityFun” summer camp offers a variety of programs for everyone, every interest, and at five different locations. Sports and specialty camps include sailing, skateboarding, dance and cheer, fishing and swim lessons.


There are camps for preschoolers, teens, and a counselor-in-training program. Multi-child discounts are available for City residents, and Palm Beach County Scholarship and ELC is accepted.
