1400 in 8 Early in 2024, Mayor Keith A. James announced an ambitious plan to create 1400 affordable, workforce homes by the send of his second term as Mayor. This was the third time he set the bar. In 2021, he set it at 300-in-3 years. In 2023, he challenged developers to create 600-units in 3 years. After exceeding 600 units. he raised the bar to 1400-in-8 years.

Developer Outreach The Department holds outreach meetings with developers, property and business owners, planners, architects, engineers, realtors, etc. to provide a "State of the City" to those interested in the current status of development within the community.
Development Services The Planning & Zoning and Building divisions of the Development Services department work to promote planning regulation, and the health, safety, and welfare of the community and first responders. The department is responsible for historic preservation, Zoning code, building permitting and inspections, business tax administration, and public records related to those activities.
Office of Small and Minority - Women Business Programs Opportunity! Small and minority/women-owned businesses often feel left out when it comes to City contract. This doesn't happen in West Palm Beach. Our office takes an active role is helping small and minority-owned business-owners and entrepreneurs get a head start.
