About

Welcome to the City of West Palm Beach Fire Rescue web site. Organized in 1894 (known as the “Flagler Alerts”) we are one of the oldest established Fire Departments in South Florida. In fact, when the City of Fort Lauderdale had the great fire of 1912, when most of Fort Lauderdale burned to the ground, they called upon the City of West Palm Beach Fire Department to send equipment and firefighters to help them battle the blaze.

Our Fire Department has evolved with great strides since then. We now provide a wide range of emergency services to the residents and visitors of our community. Fire Suppression, Emergency Medical Services, Hazardous Materials Response, Technical Rescue, Dive Rescue and Emergency Management are a sample of the services that are provided day in - day out by the 228 proud men and women that serve the City of West Palm Beach and the surrounding communities. All of these services are supported by an outstanding Fire Prevention Bureau and a superb Training Bureau that are second to none.

There are 9 community Fire Stations throughout our City. Please feel free to stop by any of these stations whenever you are in the neighborhood. The Firefighters will be happy to take your blood pressure, talk to you about your medications, give you fire safety tips or they will gladly stop by your residence or your place of business to check on your smoke detectors!
